RAQQA, Sy. – The ominous video begins with junior U.S. senator Marco Rubio (R-Fl), who is clad in black and brandishing a PKM belt-fed machine gun, addressing the camera. “Allah akbar!” He shouts gleefully before turning and unleashing a barrage of gunfire into several mannequins purportedly dressed as Christians.
The next scene shows GOP presidential front runner and former reality TV star Donald Trump soaking several dozen American flags in a tub of gasoline. “You’re fired, America!” He exclaims before dropping a lit match into the bathtub and quickly retreating off screen.
It may sound like the plot to a sketch on the popular late-night show Saturday Night Live, but the above description is actually taken from the latest propaganda video from the Islamic State. The new video features eight of the nine leading GOP presidential candidates -save for Carly Fiorina, who, according to an ISIS spokesman, was not included because “she is a woman.”
The video, which contains more of the same regurgitated calls for violent jihad against Christians and non-Muslims, also touches on an often overlooked line that, for years, has defined and divided America. “Conservatives unite!” A masked militant who looks and sounds eerily like Senator Ted Cruz (R-Tx), instructs viewers. “Crush the liberal menace!” He declares before the camera pans out and he detonates an earth-shattering car bomb several hundred yards away.
Joan Martel, a campaign advisor for Governor Jeb Bush (R-Fl) said the governor, who landed a minor role in the latest ISIS propaganda video, agreed to appear in the film free of charge in hopes of boosting his popularity among Muslim voters. “Apart from the liberals, they’re the one group that we have the hardest time reaching,” Ms. Martel said.
The sixteen minute video surfaced Saturday morning, appearing on several websites frequented by Islamic extremists before quickly going viral. The video also made a brief appearance on the popular social media website YouTube and had received nearly two million views before being taken down by site administrators.
