Protestant Leaders Declare Reunification of Churches Under the Holy See

VATICAN CITY - Following more than five hundred years of separation, American and European Protestant leaders met with Pope Francis last week to finalize the reunification of the two churches under the Holy See. The historic agreement is the result of a year’s worth of unpublicized talks between Protestant leaders and the Vatican.

Prominent American pastors Joel Osteen and Rick Warren, respectively, as well as Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, were among the Protestant delegation that met with Pope Francis last week. Pastor Warren, founder of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California, spoke with members of the international press in St. Peter’s Square, saying, “Protestants, as a people, have a long history of heresy. The time for reconciliation is now in order to ensure a full and dogmatic transition into the folds of the Church.”

Moments before meeting with reporters, the entire Protestant delegation, for the first time ever, entered the confessional to take part, individually, in the Sacrament of Penance. “It’s important that we participate in these sacred rituals before asking our congregation to do the same,” Pastor Osteen said, adding that his time in confession was “an immensely moving experience.”

As Protestants around the world make the transition to Catholicism, many are wondering what, exactly, that means for them. “First and foremost we acknowledge the Pope’s infallibility with regard to universal moral declarations, the authority of Church magistrate, faith, and ex cathedra,” said Father Cliff Brogan, a former Protestant pastor who was the first of the delegation to be ordained as a priest at the Vatican. “Secondly, we participate in the sacrament of the Eucharist by accepting the actual body and blood of Christ, an event known as Transubstantiation, at the conclusion of the holy mass.”

As part of their induction into the Catholic faith, all Protestants above the age of fifteen are required to undergo a Catholic Confirmation, one of three sacraments of initiation, out of seven total, which Catholics can receive. “Most, if not all, of us have been baptized,” said Father Brogran. “However, without formal Confirmation, our Protestant baptisms will be null, thus preventing us from entering the Kingdom of Heaven.”

Additionally, during the transition period, American Protestant families whose children attend Sunday School are to receive vouchers allowing them to participate in CCD programs at area Catholic churches.

In a show of support for the reunification under the Holy See, the United Kingdom announced Wednesday that it is taking steps to reunify Northern Ireland with The Republic of Ireland. The government of the UK has acknowledged the stark differences between the two countries, but according to one official, “We are, for the first time, one people, united under the Bishop of Rome, acting together as the bride and servant of Christ.”

  1. why not focus on spreading the gospel of Jesus and changing lives…waste of time in the excavation of the traditions of men.

    1. Tony, before one can really evangelize, one has to fully commit oneself to Truth so that he or she can proclaim It more boldly. No one can teach what she or he does not know. One must have the fullness of Truth first before he or she can confidently shout It on the rooftops.

      1. Dear Joy in the lord, putting one’s self under a heretical mother/beast system that does not love the truth by worshipping fallen angels/demons is not the to learn Truth. The only way to find the Truth is to learn from the Holy Spirit by making Jesus your Lord and letting Him teach you. God Bless

    2. Tony, do you spend 24 hours a day, 7 days a week focusing on spreading the gospel? We are allowed to do other things, and this is another thing. To speak the truth only harms those that want to hold on to the lie. Learning history and keeping up on current events is a GOOD thing, it’s to keep us from being lost in the world. This ecumenical movement is a bad thing and if you do not warn people they will get lost into it, then you lose a brother, is that what you want?

      1. Our sole purpose on earth is to spread the gospel of JESUS we are not put here to make money, have big houses and expensive cars.JESUS died on the cross to save us from hell! JESUS said”.MATTHEW 10:37 “HE THAT LOVETH FATHER OR MOTHER MORE THAN ME IS NOT WORTHY OF ME,AND HE THAT LOVETH SON OR DAUGHTER MORE THAN ME IS NOT WORTHY OF ME” .if you don’t understand that may GOD have mercy on you!

    3. I haven’t found this article anywhere on the internet. Osteen and Warren’s reunification under the Holy See. Where are you getting your information? There are no quotes like the ones above anywhere on Youtube or other credible new sites.

      It would be headline news.

  2. Now every one that has a mind well informed of the Reformation can see that we are going back to the dark ages, and what happened to the reformers is bound to befall all those who will stand for truth. The great events which have marked the progress of
    reform in past ages are
    matters of history, well
known and universally acknowledged by the Protesta
nt world; they are facts which none can
gainsay. why then, why, why, do these so-called religious leaders go back to Babylon??????

    1. James, I like to believe that much of what you know about this ‘Babylon’ is hearsay and is simply not true. These Protestant leaders, by the grace of God, have finally seen the Truth, as the Church has been praying for every year at Easter Vigil. It will do you a lot of good by reading the Catechism: http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/_INDEX.HTM
Because of the Internet, the truth is now in the open. You can easily google any question you might have.

      1. Joy, you are the one that doesn’t understand. The catholic church teaches that a priest can forgive sins, that purgatory is real, that you can pray to Mary, and many more things of satan, none of this is in the Bible, and the Bible is the word of God. The protestants left your church because it had become evil, apostate, filled with pagan worship.

      2. You claim that your faith is Bible-based. You must be using not the real Bible because you did not read the very plain instruction Jesus gave to the disciples about forgiving sins, or you DO NOT believe may things that Jesus said (as quoted in the Bible) and therefore consider Jesus as a swett talker or a liar!!! . John 20: 19 -23: 19 - -
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20
When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side.* The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
        21
Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”
        22
And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the holy Spirit.
        23
Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.”

    2. When the Revelation beast from the sea (Rome) and beast from from the earth with lamb LiKE horns (U.S.} join hands the great persecution of God’s people will happen and this will usher in Christ’s second coming. He will put an utter end to sin.

  3. The spirit of concession to paganism opened the way for a still further disregard of Heaven’s
authority. Satan, working through unconsecrated leader
    s of the church, tamper
    ed with the fourth
commandment also, and essayed to set aside the
ancient Sabbath, the day which God had blessed
and sanctified (Genesis 2:2, 3), an
d in its stead to exalt the festival observed by the heathen as “the
venerable day of the sun.” This change was not at
    first attempted openly. In
    the first centuries the
true Sabbath had been kept by all Christians. They
were jealous for the honor of God, and, believing
that His law is immutable, they zealously guarded the sacredness of its precepts. But with great
subtlety Satan worked through his agents to bring
    about his object. That the
    attention of the people
might be called to the Sunday, it was made a festival in honor of the resurrection of Christ.
Religious services were held upon it; yet it was regarded as a day of recreation, the Sabbath being
still sacredly observed. ..The archdeceiver had not completed his work. He wa
    s resolved to gather th
    e Christian world under
his banner and to exercise his pow
er through his vicegerent, the proud
pontiff who claimed to be the
    representative of Christ. Thr
    ough half-converted pagans, ambitious
    prelates, and world-loving
churchmen he accomplished his purpose. Vast councils
were held from time to time, in which the
dignitaries of the church were convened from all
the world. In nearly every council the Sabbath
which God had instituted was pressed down a litt
    le lower, while the S
    unday was correspondingly
exalted. Thus the pagan festival came finally to
be honored as a divine institution, while the Bible
Sabbath was pronounced a relic of Judaism, and its
observers were declared to be accursed.
The great apostate had succeeded in exalting hims
elf “above all that is called God, or that is
worshiped.” 2 Thessalonians 2:4. He had dared to
    change the only precept of
    the divine law that
    unmistakably points all mankind to
the true and living God. In th
    e fourth commandment, God is
    Page 54
revealed as the Creator of the heavens and the ear
th, and is thereby distinguished from all false
gods. It was as a memorial of the work of creation
    that the seventh day was
    sanctified as
    a rest day
for man. It was designed to keep th
e living God ever before the minds
of men as the source of being
and the object of reverence and worship. Satan strive
s to turn men from thei
    r allegiance to God, and
from rendering obedience to His law; therefore he directs his efforts especially against that
commandment which points to God as the Creator.
Protestants now urge that the resurrection of Ch
rist on Sunday made it the Christian Sabbath. But
Scripture evidence is lacking. No such honor was gi
ven to the day by Christ or His apostles. The
observance of Sunday as a Christian institution had its
origin in that “mystery of lawlessness” (2
    Thessalonians 2:7, R.V.) which, even in Paul’s
day, had begun its work. Where and when did the
Lord adopt this child of the papacy? What valid
    reason can be given
    for a change which the
    Scriptures do not sanction?

  4. God has never given a hint in His word that He has appointed any man to be the head of
the church. The doctrine of papal supremacy is directly opposed to
    the teachings of the Scriptures.
The pope can have no power over Christ’s church except by usurpation.
Romanists have persisted in bringing against Protestants the charge
    of heresy and willful separation
from the true church. But these accusations apply
rather to themselves. They are the ones who laid
down the banner of Christ and departed from “the
faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”
    Jude 3.
Satan well knew that the Holy Scriptures would en
    able men to discern his
    deceptions and withstand
his power. It was by the word that even the Saviour
    of the world had resisted
    his attacks. At every
assault, Christ presented the shield of eternal truth, saying, “It is
    written.” To every suggestion of
the adversary, He opposed the wisdom and power of
the word. In order for Satan to maintain his
sway over men, and establish the authority of the pa
pal usurper, he must keep them in ignorance of
the Scriptures. The Bible would exalt God and place finite men in their true
    position; therefore its
sacred truths must be concealed and suppressed.
This logic was adopted by the Roman Church. For
hundreds of years the circulation of
the Bible was prohibited. The people were forbidden to read it
or to have it in their houses, and unprincipled priest
s and prelates interpreted its teachings to sustain
their pretensions. Thus the pope came to be almost universally acknowledged as the vicegerent of
God on earth, endowed with authority over church and state

      1. You need a lesson in communication, you need to learn how to talk, because if I tell you that on this desk I’ll write a book, that does not mean you are the desk. If Jesus was saying what you claim, then he would have said “Peter, upon YOU I will build my church”, but that’s not what he said.

      2. Read the two verses prior, He is not referring to Simon Peter, (flesh and blood) he is referring to the revelation by way of the Father, that is the rock that the church is founded:
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

Your answer clearly demonstrates that the Catholic church is rooted in flesh and blood, ie a man.

  5. In what way pope francis instructed by God to change His commandments? Anyone on earth has a direct access with God?

  6. My brothers and sisters the bible says do not put your trust in a man but in God. Jesus is coming soon so repent. Thank u.

  7. Pope wants a 1 world order. If don’t repent,God is going to laugh at your calamity. Proverbs 3: 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your feat cometh.

    1. How do you know that the Pope wants a one-world order? It is the Holy Spirit Who acts in the hearts of men, Catholics and Protestants alike, men of good will and filled with reverence and fear of God, Who will cause the ultimate unity of all believers. It is not the Pope, nor it is these Protestants, who are to be credited of this move towards unity. It is instead to Our Lord Jesus Christ, Who has prayed, “That they may be one, as You, Father and I are one.” John 17:21

      1. The “as one” you show is one in truth, and the catholic church does not speak of preach the truth.

      2. Friend, you are sadly misinformed. The papacy is the beast of revelation, America is the image to the beast. The pope is controlled by Satan, he is possessed. The Holy Spirit does not act in every single individual, there are demonic spirits which can also act according to their sinister works. The unity you speak of is not the same one Jesus was talking about. He said to worship in SPIRIT AND TRUTH. You can’t have one without the other. Oh how I wish people would listen to God instead of the traditions of men.

  8. Matthew 16: 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Peter was the one assigned by Jesus to build his church. Was the first Pope of the Catholic church. He was given the keys of the kingdom of heaven. It is written, Whoever is within his church will be bound in heaven, and those who separates from this church will be loosed in heaven. Therefore, those who moved-out from the catholic church, should go back again.

    1. Peter was not a catholic, nor a pope. And what happened back then does not change the fact that the catholic church has strayed from the teachings of the Bible. Jesus never gave Peter the permission to change the Bible, but the catholic church did change the Bible. Jesus never told Peter than he is to pass his authority to someone else.

      1. The Catholic church change the bible? It was the Catholic church who compiled the bible and you protestants copied our bible and added words, change some and deleted 7 books. You do not have a bible my friend.

  9. The word for Peter in the greek means a small stone. Jesus was and is The Rock, other scriptures show this and show that Christ is the chief cornerstone of the foundation on which the church is built, the foundation being the prophets and the apostles. Jesus was saying to Peter that he, Peter, was a small stone but that He, Jesus, was the Rock, the chief cornerstone on which He Jesus would build His church.

  10. We learn from the past history of the church and so much of that history is ruthless violence against those true believers who disagreed with the “leaders” of that pagan Roman church. The reason the protestants leaders are gathering their congregations together and are returning to the trough of the holy see is for a share in the power of controlling the largest number of people the world has ever known. The leaders of God’s people during the time of Jesus had done the same thing and history is plain in teaching us that absolute power corrupts absolutely when they had the perfect example of a true protestant, Jesus, hung on a cross. Once the reunification of the “churches” takes place those who follow the example of Jesus will find themselves treated just as He was and just as the followers of the protestant movement were treated after His death and resurrection. It will be a return to the following of the traditions of men instead of the laws/requirements of God and it will be a return to the dark days of persecution for those who speak the truth concerning those laws/requirements of God’s government. Persecution of the minority has always come from within not without. Because there are those who are unwilling to learn from the past there WILL be a return to that past.

  11. Not to be taken seriously. This is satire but people are responding and even sharing it like it’s real news. People are being misled esp the gullible ones.

  12. The Catholic Church has now opened hell wide open and I am not part going to be part of it. We are not to confess our sins to a man but to God (1 John 1:9), who created the heavens and the earth. The bible points out who the pope is “666” Revelations 13:18 and 2 Thessalonians 2:3,4. The pope is not a man of God, but a servant of the devil. We are not to link ourselves to the Catholic Church because they follow pagan practices that God is not pleased with. “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,” 2 Corinthians 6:17.

  13. Now, it’s getting serious here. Thank God (if this true) for these Protestants to be back home, to the one true fold of Christ. However, there are some of the members of these sects are gnashing their teeth on disappointment and accusing the true Church of Christ as the “Babylon” and even attempting to disprove the supremacy of Peter and his successors, the Pope. Since they are misquoting Bible here, I will do exactly the opposite.
Mark 3:16; John 1:42 – Jesus renames Simon “Kepha” in Aramaic which literally means “rock.” This was an extraordinary thing for Jesus to do, because “rock” was not even a name in Jesus’ time. Jesus did this, not to give Simon a strange name, but to identify his new status among the apostles. When God changes a person’s name, He changes their status.

Gen. 17:5; 32:28; 2 Kings 23:34; Acts 9:4; 13:9 - for example, in these verses, we see that God changes the following people’s names and, as a result, they become special agents of God: Abram to Abraham; Jacob to Israel, Eliakim to Jehoiakim, Saul to Paul.

2 Sam. 22:2-3, 32, 47; 23:3; Psalm 18:2,31,46; 19:4; 28:1; 42:9; 62:2,6,7; 89:26; 94:22; 144:1-2 - in these verses, God is also called “rock.” Hence, from these verses, non-Catholics often argue that God, and not Peter, is the rock that Jesus is referring to in Matt. 16:18. This argument not only ignores the plain meaning of the applicable texts, but also assumes words used in Scripture can only have one meaning. This, of course, is not true. For example:

1 Cor. 3:11 - Jesus is called the only foundation of the Church, and yet in Eph. 2:20, the apostles are called the foundation of the Church. Similarly, in 1 Peter 2:25, Jesus is called the Shepherd of the flock, but in Acts 20:28, the apostles are called the shepherds of the flock. These verses show that there are multiple metaphors for the Church, and that words used by the inspired writers of Scripture can have various meanings. Catholics agree that God is the rock of the Church, but this does not mean He cannot confer this distinction upon Peter as well, to facilitate the unity He desires for the Church.

Matt. 16:18 - Jesus said in Aramaic, you are “Kepha” and on this “Kepha” I will build my Church. In Aramaic, “kepha” means a massive stone, and “evna” means little pebble. Some non-Catholics argue that, because the Greek word for rock is “petra”, that “Petros” actually means “a small rock”, and therefore Jesus was attempting to diminish Peter right after blessing him by calling him a small rock. Not only is this nonsensical in the context of Jesus’ blessing of Peter, Jesus was speaking Aramaic and used “Kepha,” not “evna.” Using Petros to translate Kepha was done simply to reflect the masculine noun of Peter.

Moreover, if the translator wanted to identify Peter as the “small rock,” he would have used “lithos” which means a little pebble in Greek. Also, Petros and petra were synonyms at the time the Gospel was written, so any attempt to distinguish the two words is inconsequential. Thus, Jesus called Peter the massive rock, not the little pebble, on which He would build the Church. (You don’t even need Matt. 16:18 to prove Peter is the rock because Jesus renamed Simon “rock” in Mark 3:16 and John 1:42!).

Matt. 16:17 - to further demonstrate that Jesus was speaking Aramaic, Jesus says Simon “Bar-Jona.” The use of “Bar-Jona” proves that Jesus was speaking Aramaic. In Aramaic, “Bar” means son, and “Jonah” means John or dove (Holy Spirit). See Matt. 27:46 and Mark 15:34 which give another example of Jesus speaking Aramaic as He utters in rabbinical fashion the first verse of Psalm 22 declaring that He is the Christ, the Messiah. This shows that Jesus was indeed speaking Aramaic, as the Jewish people did at that time.

Matt. 16:18 - also, in quoting “on this rock,” the Scriptures use the Greek construction “tautee tee” which means on “this” rock; on “this same” rock; or on “this very” rock. “Tautee tee” is a demonstrative construction in Greek, pointing to Peter, the subject of the sentence (and not his confession of faith as some non-Catholics argue) as the very rock on which Jesus builds His Church. The demonstrative (“tautee”) generally refers to its closest antecedent (“Petros”). Also, there is no place in Scripture where “faith” is equated with “rock.”

Matt. 16:18-19 - in addition, to argue that Jesus first blesses Peter for having received divine revelation from the Father, then diminishes him by calling him a small pebble, and then builds him up again by giving him the keys to the kingdom of heaven is entirely illogical, and a gross manipulation of the text to avoid the truth of Peter’s leadership in the Church. This is a three-fold blessing of Peter - you are blessed, you are the rock on which I will build my Church, and you will receive the keys to the kingdom of heaven (not you are blessed for receiving Revelation, but you are still an insignificant little pebble, and yet I am going to give you the keys to the kingdom).

Matt. 16:18-19 – to further rebut the Protestant argument that Jesus was speaking about Peter’s confession of faith (not Peter himself) based on the revelation he received, the verses are clear that Jesus, after acknowledging Peter’s receipt of divine revelation, turns the whole discourse to the person of Peter: Blessed are “you” Simon, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to “you,” and I tell “you,” “you” are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church. I will give “you” the keys to the kingdom, and whatever “you” bind and loose on earth will be bound and loosed in heaven. Jesus’ whole discourse relates to the person of Peter, not his confession of faith.

Matt. 16:13 - also, from a geographical perspective, Jesus renames Simon to rock in Caesarea Philippi near a massive rock formation on which Herod built a temple to Caesar. Jesus chose this setting to further emphasize that Peter was indeed the rock on which the Church would be built.

Matt. 7:24 - Jesus, like the wise man, builds His house on the rock (Peter), not on grain of sand (Simon) so the house will not fall.

Luke 6:48 - the house (the Church) built upon the rock (Peter) cannot be shaken by floods (which represent the heresies, schisms, and scandals that the Church has faced over the last 2,000 years). Floods have occurred, but the Church still remains on its solid rock foundation.

Matt. 16:21 - it is also important to note that it was only after Jesus established Peter as leader of the Church that He began to speak of His death and departure. This is because Jesus had now appointed His representative on earth.

John 21:15 - Jesus asks Peter if he loves Jesus “more than these,” referring to the other apostles. Jesus singles Peter out as the leader of the apostolic college.

John 21:15-17 - Jesus selects Peter to be the chief shepherd of the apostles when He says to Peter, “feed my lambs,” “tend my sheep,” “feed my sheep.” Peter will shepherd the Church as Jesus’ representative.

Luke 22:31-32 - Jesus also prays that Peter’s faith may not fail and charges Peter to be the one to strengthen the other apostles - “Simon, satan demanded to have you (plural, referring to all the apostles) to sift you (plural) like wheat, but I prayed for you (singular) that your (singular) faith may not fail, and when you (singular) have turned again, strengthen your brethren.

Acts 1,2,3,4,5,8,15 - no one questions Peter’s authority to speak for the Church, declare anathemas, and resolve doctrinal debates. Peter is the rock on which the Church is built who feeds Jesus’ sheep and whose faith will not fail.

  14. Continuation:
    Primacy of Peter
Matt. to Rev. - Peter is mentioned 155 times and the rest of apostles combined are only mentioned 130 times. Peter is also always listed first except in 1 Cor. 3:22 and Gal. 2:9 (which are obvious exceptions to the rule).

Matt. 10:2; Mark 1:36; 3:16; Luke 6:14-16; Acts 1:3; 2:37; 5:29 - these are some of many examples where Peter is mentioned first among the apostles.

Matt. 14:28-29 - only Peter has the faith to walk on water. No other man in Scripture is said to have the faith to walk on water. This faith ultimately did not fail.

Matt. 16:16, Mark 8:29; John 6:69 - Peter is first among the apostles to confess the divinity of Christ.

Matt. 16:17 - Peter alone is told he has received divine knowledge by a special revelation from God the Father.

Matt. 16:18 - Jesus builds the Church only on Peter, the rock, with the other apostles as the foundation and Jesus as the Head.

Matt. 16:19 - only Peter receives the keys, which represent authority over the Church and facilitate dynastic succession to his authority.

Matt. 17:24-25 - the tax collector approaches Peter for Jesus’ tax. Peter is the spokesman for Jesus. He is the Vicar of Christ.

Matt. 17:26-27 - Jesus pays the half-shekel tax with one shekel, for both Jesus and Peter. Peter is Christ’s representative on earth.

Matt. 18:21 - in the presence of the disciples, Peter asks Jesus about the rule of forgiveness. One of many examples where Peter takes a leadership role among the apostles in understanding Jesus’ teachings.

Matt. 19:27 - Peter speaks on behalf of the apostles by telling Jesus that they have left everything to follow Him.

Mark 10:28 - here also, Peter speaks on behalf of the disciples by declaring that they have left everything to follow Him.

Mark 11:21 - Peter speaks on behalf of the disciples in remembering Jesus’ curse on the fig tree.

Mark 14:37 - at Gethsemane, Jesus asks Peter, and no one else, why he was asleep. Peter is accountable to Jesus for his actions on behalf of the apostles because he has been appointed by Jesus as their leader.

Mark 16:7 - Peter is specified by an angel as the leader of the apostles as the angel confirms the resurrection of Christ.

Luke 5:3 – Jesus teaches from Peter’s boat which is metaphor for the Church. Jesus guides Peter and the Church into all truth.

Luke 5:4,10 - Jesus instructs Peter to let down the nets for a catch, and the miraculous catch follows. Peter, the Pope, is the “fisher of men.”

Luke 7:40-50- Jesus addresses Peter regarding the rule of forgiveness and Peter answers on behalf of the disciples. Jesus also singles Peter out and judges his conduct vis-à-vis the conduct of the woman who anointed Him.

Luke 8:45 - when Jesus asked who touched His garment, it is Peter who answers on behalf of the disciples.

Luke 8:51; 9:28; 22:8; Acts 1:13; 3:1,3,11; 4:13,19; 8:14 - Peter is always mentioned before John, the disciple whom Jesus loved.

Luke 9:28;33 - Peter is mentioned first as going to mountain of transfiguration and the only one to speak at the transfiguration.

Luke 12:41 - Peter seeks clarification of a parable on behalf on the disciples. This is part of Peter’s formation as the chief shepherd of the flock after Jesus ascended into heaven.

Luke 22:31-32 - Jesus prays for Peter alone, that his faith may not fail, and charges him to strengthen the rest of the apostles.

Luke 24:12, John 20:4-6 - John arrived at the tomb first but stopped and waited for Peter. Peter then arrived and entered the tomb first.

Luke 24:34 - the two disciples distinguish Peter even though they both had seen the risen Jesus the previous hour. See Luke 24:33.

John 6:68 - after the disciples leave, Peter is the first to speak and confess his belief in Christ after the Eucharistic discourse.

John 13:6-9 - Peter speaks out to the Lord in front of the apostles concerning the washing of feet.

John 13:36; 21:18 - Jesus predicts Peter’s death. Peter was martyred at Rome in 67 A.D. Several hundred years of papal successors were also martyred.

John 21:2-3,11 - Peter leads the fishing and his net does not break. The boat (the “barque of Peter”) is a metaphor for the Church.

John 21:7 - only Peter got out of the boat and ran to the shore to meet Jesus. Peter is the earthly shepherd leading us to God.

John 21:15 - in front of the apostles, Jesus asks Peter if he loves Jesus “more than these,” which refers to the other apostles. Peter is the head of the apostolic see.

John 21:15-17 - Jesus charges Peter to “feed my lambs,” “tend my sheep,” “feed my sheep.” Sheep means all people, even the apostles.

Acts 1:13 - Peter is first when entering upper room after our Lord’s ascension. The first Eucharist and Pentecost were given in this room.

Acts 1:15 - Peter initiates the selection of a successor to Judas right after Jesus ascended into heaven, and no one questions him. Further, if the Church needed a successor to Judas, wouldn’t it need one to Peter? Of course.

Acts 2:14 - Peter is first to speak for the apostles after the Holy Spirit descended upon them at Pentecost. Peter is the first to preach the Gospel.

Acts 2:38 - Peter gives first preaching in the early Church on repentance and baptism in the name of Jesus Christ.

Acts 3:1,3,4 - Peter is mentioned first as going to the Temple to pray.

Acts 3:6-7 - Peter works the first healing of the apostles.

Acts 3:12-26, 4:8-12 - Peter teaches the early Church the healing through Jesus and that there is no salvation other than Christ.

Acts 5:3 - Peter declares the first anathema of Ananias and Sapphira which is ratified by God, and brings about their death. Peter exercises his binding authority.

Acts 5:15 - Peter’s shadow has healing power. No other apostle is said to have this power.

Acts 8:14 - Peter is mentioned first in conferring the sacrament of confirmation.

Acts 8:20-23 - Peter casts judgment on Simon’s quest for gaining authority through the laying on of hands. Peter exercises his binding and loosing authority.

Acts 9:32-34 - Peter is mentioned first among the apostles and works the healing of Aeneas.

Acts 9:38-40 - Peter is mentioned first among the apostles and raises Tabitha from the dead.

Acts 10:5 - Cornelius is told by an angel to call upon Peter. Angels are messengers of God. Peter was granted this divine vision.

Acts 10:34-48, 11:1-18 - Peter is first to teach about salvation for all (Jews and Gentiles).

Acts 12:5 - this verse implies that the “whole Church” offered “earnest prayers” for Peter, their leader, during his imprisonment.

Acts 12:6-11 - Peter is freed from jail by an angel. He is the first object of divine intervention in the early Church.

Acts 15:7-12 - Peter resolves the first doctrinal issue on circumcision at the Church’s first council at Jerusalem, and no one questions him. After Peter the Papa spoke, all were kept silent.

Acts 15:12 - only after Peter (the Pope) speaks do Paul and Barnabas (bishops) speak in support of Peter’s definitive teaching.

Acts 15:13-14 - then James speaks to further acknowledge Peter’s definitive teaching. “Simeon (Peter) has related how God first visited…”

Rom. 15:20 - Paul says he doesn’t want to build on “another man’s foundation” referring to Peter, who built the Church in Rome.

1 Cor. 9:5 – Peter is distinguished from the rest of the apostles and brethren of the Lord.

1 Cor. 15:4-8 - Paul distinguishes Jesus’ post-resurrection appearances to Peter from those of the other apostles. Christ appeared “to Cephas, then to the twelve.”

Gal.1:18 - Paul spends fifteen days with Peter privately before beginning his ministry, even after Christ’s Revelation to Paul.

1 Peter 5:1 - Peter acts as the chief bishop by “exhorting” all the other bishops and elders of the Church.

1 Peter 5:13 - Some Protestants argue against the Papacy by trying to prove Peter was never in Rome. First, this argument is irrelevant to whether Jesus instituted the Papacy. Secondly, this verse demonstrates that Peter was in fact in Rome. Peter writes from “Babylon” which was a code name for Rome during these days of persecution. See, for example, Rev. 14:8, 16:19, 17:5, 18:2,10,21, which show that “Babylon” meant Rome. Rome was the “great city” of the New Testament period. Because Rome during this age was considered the center of the world, the Lord wanted His Church to be established in Rome.

2 Peter 1:14 - Peter writes about Jesus’ prediction of Peter’s death, embracing the eventual martyrdom that he would suffer.

2 Peter 3:16 - Peter is making a judgment on the proper interpretation of Paul’s letters. Peter is the chief shepherd of the flock.

Matt. 23:11; Mark 9:35; 10:44 - yet Peter, as the first, humbled himself to be the last and servant of all servants.

    1. How can you instruct the Catholics and the Protestants, who like dogs, return to their vomit again? Clearly, they are spiritually discerned and reprobate and ‘naked’ before God’s eyes. Like the five foolish virgins whose lights are dying out because of lack of the Holy Spirit which should give them understanding. Wells without water and clouds that bring no rain. Like Balaam and Simon Magus and their followers, who put on a show of godliness for filthy lucre’s sake… and can never come to the knowledge of the truth. Corrupt men, deceiving themselves and others, who are all under God’s curse. Scriptures must be fulfilled about them — that they would be under a strong delusion to believe in a lie, because they resist the truth and would not let Christ come into their hearts, but instead follow after vain men who think only of power and domination of other people for themselves and do not surrender their lives to God. But for you, true servants of God and faithful followers of His anointed Christ, go not near their congregation, and keep your white clothing unblemished by their abominable practices and doctrines. Be not be partakers of their sin, lest you too will receive God’s recompense and share the fate of all evildoers. Be patient. The Lord’s coming is nearer now than we first believed. Look and observe all around you, and you’ll see that He’s coming soon — even at the very door! God bless you and all who listen.

      1. Do you believe Jesus was an example? If so, he was at church every Sabbath (7th day). If we are to stay away from protestant churches, and stay away from the catholic church, then what church are we to go to, surely you don’t believe we should never go to church, or do you?
I’m not being sarcastic or argumentative, I am interested in what you’re saying. I didn’t go to a church from 14 years old until I was 40 years old and I know the Bible better than most. But when I had kids at 43 years old, I joined a church that actually keeps the 7th day Sabbath so my kids can learn the basics.

  17. good prank, I wonder how many people believe these articles here 😀 God created brain for everyone, your duty is to USE IT!!!

  18. A beautifull move, am encouraging all others to join this movement to the truth. Christ prays that all :is follower may be one, I believe this prayer is begining to be answered. Praise the Lord

  19. Dear Constitution Defender, if you good enough in philology or at least linguistic, you will know that Peter (Petros, Greek; Petrus, Latin; Cephas or Kepha, HEBREW) means, The Rock. His original name is Shimon or Simeon (Simon in modern English). The name Cephas was given by Jesus. Thus, what will the logic of language sound when Jesus said, “Peter, upon this rock I will build my church …”? I am an Indonesian, from Flores Island. I learn philosophy and teach philosophy. I do not learn theology. But I understand theology by the course of philosophy, at least very simple logic like this! Another note to you: Reading your comments reveal the truth to me about you by your hiding ID, that you are not polite, you are not smart, you have no wisdom. Are you proud enough to get involved in this conversation even as a disciple of Jesus? Shame on you!

  20. People are so stupid today. Absolutely completely idiotic and stupid. The Catholic church is the original church that Christ started. It is the ONLY church where the priest has the power to turn bread into the literal body of Christ, the Holy sacrifice. What people do not understand and are so blinded towards, is that the Catholic church has been under attack for years, and infiltrated by Marxists with the intent on bringing it down. When you see something that is attacked so harshly, it is a dead give-away that it is the real thing. Decades ago, marxists infiltrated the Catholic church and began recruiting homosexual priests KNOWING what would happen. Vatican II changed the one and true Traditional mass to a copy of a protestant form of mass. The council at the time that did this were communist/marxist infiltrators.

Yes, the current pope is a marxist jesuit infiltrator. He is the result of approximately 100 years of infiltration. My recommendation is for people to convert to Catholicism, but at the same time REJECT the Novus Ordo mass and only attend Traditional Mass. And no, you do not have to donate money to the Catholic church. You can go to Catholic church and not give a dime. So stop say “I’m not givin my money to that satanic catholic church!!”.

A person can be a Traditional Catholic, while at the same time rejecting the current Novus Ordo mass and the current pope. This way, you can belong to the one and true church that celebrates the true Holy Sacrifice and find salvation, while at the same time rejecting the current fake Catholic Church that has been infiltrated by marxist communist freemasons.

    1. Vat 2 and the new Mass contain heresies in total opposition to what the Church taught before. If you reject Vat 2 and the new Mass, you have to reject every Vat 2 pope because they have all promulgated the heresies. This is the longest sedevacantist (chair of Peter being empty) period in Church history—almost 50 years. There was a 3 year period of no legitimate pope earlier in Church history.

There a growing number of traditional Latin Masses in sedevacantist chapels. If you attend
a traditional Latin Mass in a diocesan church, you are in union with Vat 2 and Francis. If you attend an SSPX, while they reject Vat 2 and the new Mass, they are still in union w Francis as his name is mentioned as part of the liturgy. Having the stench of such a man’s name in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass cannot be pleasing to God.

Francis totally fits the prophecy of the saint after which he named himself-St Francis of Assisi:

      http://twoheartspress.com/uncategorized/st-francis-prophecy-of-the-false-pope/

  21. Folks, read the other articles on this site……………this is not a true story - this is satire. The other articles are too. If this were true you would have nothing but 24/7 on the news. Fact is protestant churches have made no such agreement with the Vatican

  22. I do not think this story of reunification is true. Should it be true, all major media would have made it headlines. Be careful with such satire like this and do not make things worse by fooling around.

  23. The reunion is good but has a danger impact. It limits the spreading of the gospel and at the tower of babel God did not liked people coming together and he scattered them. Reunion is not necessary this time but i would prefer if people could scatter very much and reach those who are not reached

  24. Johar
1.The spirit of ecumenical movement referring to Vatican 2, is always equality among the church,
so if I see this so call unification by this article, I should say it is not unification at all, because it is against the spirit of Vatican 2 ecumenical movement.
    2. You have to stop seeing church as Catholic perspective only,
but you have to start learning to see the church with universal perspective,
the word catholic means universal, but today we use Catholic as a denomination (name) of a church,
especially if we combine Rome + Catholic, then it doesn’t mean universal any more.
The fact today, universal church is contain a bunch of denominations.
The Catholic Church have to acknowledge this fact, if you want unification really happen in the universal church
    3. Peter was not the fist pope, he was an apostle, but he was never been a bishop, and there was no papal institution when Peter lived.
if we see at the church history, Theodosius(379-395) made him self the head of the state church of Rome, so he was the first emperor established the papal institution, may be we can name him as the first pope, for more apropriate.
    4. My closing statement, lets be open minded, don’t discredit one another

    1. this article is a distortion to suit catholic viewpoint. pastors Joel & Rick were never n will never accept the wrong beliefs n practices of catholic. whoever the writer! u r telling a lie. Pls stop deceiving people

  25. First, there is no possibility of reunification between the pope and true protestants without the whole recognizing of the inaltered Augsburg confession as catholic creed. Secondly, the canon Law and the official liturgy must be changed to fit with This confession. I suggere to adopte the 1549 B.C.P, without “filioque” in the Nicene creed, for This. That’s all. Take it or leave it!

  26. The pope was in South America and definitely did not meet with Rick Warren and/or Joel Osteen during the time this article claims. Please check the internet for the pope’s schedule. It is available for everyone to reed.

  27. THIS IS SITE PUBLISHES FAKE NEWS!! And since its it found anywhere else, this is another FAKE story. Just like the other one last month about the pope changing the commandments. It’s all FAKE

  28. Jesus said I have other sheep I will bring them and they will be one Shepherd and one flock, it is the time that the prophecy to be fulfilled. Jn 10

  29. Uh… that is the bride of antichrist. The Catholic church is full of heresy, not that Protestant churches have it all right, but the true bride and servant of Christ is the born again Christian, bible believing Christian, who leaves the Catholic church to have a personal relationship with Jesus as it can only occur outside of the Catholic church. The harlot church has formed, behold the rise of the beast and the harlot who rides upon him, for she is drunk with the blood of the saints of Jesus!
Come out of her my people, do not partake of her abominations! Repent and turn to Jesus alone for salvation! The time is short! The reformation will never be over as God will always prevail!

  30. I am interested in more information about Protestant Leaders Declare Reunification of Churches Under the Holy See
    In Christ
    Fred

  31. This Article is 100% Bogus…..Rick Warren et al are not reunifying with the Catholic Church. I am a former Fundamentalist Protestant and a well educated Catholic. This article is true as to what returning to full communion for a validly Baptized Protestant who accepts the Nicene Faith….but the Theme and Headline are fallacious and fictitious. This is obviously a Fundi troll posing as a research Journalist. No Sourcing etc.

  32. This is totally unbelievable!j!
I will not be a part of this movement if in fact it is true!!
I hold my protestant faith very dear to my heart and will follow no man on this earth, my faith is in my Lord Jesus Christ , this movement is foretold in the Bible.
We are most deffinatly living in the final days before our Lord returns for his church and his people.
May God be with us is my fervent prayer!!

  33. Wow! Talk about confused “leaders”. Calling born again believers heretics. Absolutely unbelievable. And joining up with unredeemed unrepentant. Amazing.

  34. Sounds like Protestant leaders have sold themselves and congregations to the devil and apostate church Union. They choose man over yeshua as bride of Christ the King. Anyone under this influence needs to get as
Far away from this as possible. Poop is not your savior!!!! Very disturbing!!!!

  35. I’m so angry that preachers I have looked up too for years, now I know that they were never genuine in the first place. But I will pray that they will see the light and get saved.

  36. Who says the Catholic Church is the true church? She destroyed millions during the Dark Ages and certain of her teachings are non-Biblical. She has perverted the simple teachings of the Scriptures.

  37. Who says the Catholic Church is the true church? She destroyed millions during the Dark Ages. Some of her doctrines are non-biblical. She has not changed. We’re living in an informed society, but if she were given the same opportunity as she had back in the Dark Ages, she would do the same in controlling the conscience. These protestant leaders know not what they are doing in reality.

  38. I’m so happy! God spoke this to my heart let year before I read thid…it’s a confirmation to read this article. 😀

  39. This made me cry with tears of joy!
Praise God! Thank God for our Pope Francis! Thank you, oh Holy Spirit for moving among those who participated in these historic meetings!

  40. lol sorry to hear folks but to those new to the internet, pls read up on his other articles and works first before believing everything on the internet. R. Hobbus J. D. is an internet con reporter who fabricates funny satirical reports also known popularly as your common internet troll though this guy seems hes done more effort in beautifying his website to attract unwitting readers like you

  41. It’s just the right time. Let Christians unite now and we can be stronger against the Evil One! God is great! The devil now roaring waiting to destroy the Body of Christ but they will not succeed. Let Christians unite now. Believe and we shall be victorious amen!

  42. How many protestant denominations are there today? Each of the more than 60 thousand protestant denominations claims to be superior / better than the other. Isn’t it that the fruits of the Holy Spirit is unity, joy and love? Protestants are so divided, filled with hatred against the Catholic Church and true joy can only be experienced in loving. It’s a fact that the bible is originally compiled by the Catholic Church from which the protestant churches made their own versions - if the original bible is a Catholic creation and we all believe that the Bible is the word of God, how could it be that the Catholic church is of Satan. Stop watching the many lies you see in youtube.com - those are devil’s works. How could a pope be anti-Christ? All he preaches is faith in Jesus and His love. The anti-Christ are those who denied our Lord Jesus and those who told lies to mislead people so they would get our of the true Church and be deprived of the sacraments . The catholic church continues to produce saints/ holy men and women whose life and examples are truly Christian, whose love of God and neighbor is truly extraordinary. Take away the money element in religion and thousands of these protestant denominations will disappear over night. Peace and love to all . God bless

  43. I am wondering if you have ever read The Great Controversy by E.G. White? It appears that your
comments parallel her thoughts. What will soon happen in the US is the enforcement of Sunday Laws, do you concur?

  44. My goodness, does my relationship with Father, Son and Holy Spirit mean nothing thus far? This article is trying to make me feel like my Faith comes to nothing. I have already been christened, and I have already been confirmed. I cannot believe that it meant nothing to our Lord. Shame on those responsible for suggesting it.

  45. “Then I heard another voice from heaven say: “‘Come out of her, my people,’ so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues.” Rev. 18:4

  46. If this is true, then it is the beginning of the end. Christ’s return will come sooner than we expected.
Imagine what all the Christian martyrs would say if they could witness this unification?

  47. “Through the two great errors, the immortality of the soul and Sunday sacredness, Satan will bring the people under his deceptions. While the former lays the foundation of spiritualism, the latter creates a bond of sympathy with Rome. The Protestants of the United States will be foremost in stretching their hands across the gulf to grasp the hand of spiritualism; they will reach over the abyss to clasp hands with the Roman power; and under the influence of this threefold union, this country will follow in the steps of Rome in trampling on the rights of conscience”. Great Controversy, pg 588 para. 1

  48. Dear Sir,

is it possible that You can give some extra informations on this article? A friend of mine was not able to find an other source telling them same news.
Thank You in advance for Your kind help.
    Kind regards, Angela

  49. Dit moet eintlik lees ‘Sommige Protestante leiers wil katolieke word’ aangesien die mense ʼn baie klein minderheid is tussen al die Protestante.

  50. The leaders of the Anglican churches are out of touch with the grass roots of the church, they have rude awakening waiting for them, like the men in grey suits, they will be replaced if this silly talk leads to another reformation!

  51. How dare you refer to protestants as having a history of heresy, that is the reason 50 million Christians were burned at stake because they wouldnt recant to a medevil Church who sold penetance at a price. A far as Osteen and his fellow reunified priest friends good riddance.

  52. Christ gave us a new covenant when He died on the cross. Catholics would understand that if they actually studied the entire Bible. Confession? I have confession with my Savior everyday. I don’t need a priest or a pope or any human to do that for me. No one does. The Bible explains that in great detail. The Seventh day is the sabbath, Saturday not Sunday. The Catholic book that explains their beliefs explains that they changed the day from Saturday to Sunday. It’s right there written down and no one seems to care. Catholicism is not the Holy will of God, it’s corruption and manipulation by the pope and by Rome.

  53. We should not be bowing to the Pope. They are so foolish to be following the beast, but the Bible does say that we as a world will do so, and by the time they realize they were wrong it will be too late for them. I pray that we may stand firm for Jesus and His truth.

  54. It is absurd!

We are protestants for a reason. No man, including the Pope, can ever take the place of Jesus Christ and claim to forgive sins. Furthermore, the sacrifice of Jesus paying in His blood was absolute and perfect and “offering” Him again and again in the Eucharist destroys the belief in Jesus. Did He not say that only through Him can we go to the Father? It is SHAMEFUL for these mega “evangelists” to bow down to Rome and betray our Lord Jesus like this!

  55. This development is frightening. Why? FIrst off, the Bible clearly states that confession is through Jesus Christ, NOT a priest! Second, with the Protestant churches unifying with the Catholic Church, they are open to the idea of the infallibility of the Pope. That in of itself is heresy! So, what are we going to see now? Statues of the Virgin Mary and other holy figures at our local Lutheran Church..something clearly against the Ten Commandments(do not worship graven images..) All I can say is that I’m glad I’m becoming a 7th Day Adventist. We worship on SATURDAY..NOT SUNDAY. Saturday is the proper SABBATH, NOT SUNDAY. True Protestants…BEWARE..and get out before it’s TOO LATE.

  56. Seems to me like old WOUNDS are being healed for them. Funny how the Vatican still absorbs the practices of the world just to have a stake of power. Do not go to her. You will regret it.

  57. Unification of Eastern Orthodox and Protestant Churches with Roman Catholic Church makes me shiver down to the spine, and on the other hand RC is busy building ecumenism with other world religious bodies. This clearly points out to the woman of Revelation chapter 17: Through videos RC and their cohorts/agents like Joel Osteen, Ophra, Rick Warren etc. . promoting many ways to salvation against the very foundation of faith. There is no salvation in Muslim, Buddhist,Judaism,Hinduism and in any other religions of this world except in Jesus according to the Bible Acts 4:12. John 14:6. Pope Francis is promoting false christian religion a.k.a. one world religion which is call Mysterious Babylon mother of all harlots.Beware my beloved Catholics, Lutherans, Evangelicals, and Orthodox Christians you are being fooled by the Devil himself. I know our leaders had sold their souls to Satan. Now it is time for us to make our decision to follow our leaders who make joint declaration with RC or united with Pope. Follow true Christian leaders who is not bowing down to RC and the Pope. Being Evangelical I am ashamed of our leaders who sold out their souls to Satan,I boldly declare, I will not follow you to the HELL. You go alone.

  58. The reason Protestants are divided from the Catholic church is BIBLE teachings, but as many churches no longer bother with teaching the FULL Bible, but compromise and man’s direction……
